Visa Documents

Organizers will provide the participants with all required travel documents for the smooth application of visas. Please contact Xavier Ndalila on xndalila@taxjusticeafrica.net for invitation letters.

It is mandatory for all conference participants to present a valid Yellow Fever vaccination card at the medical checkpoint. If you do not produce or have a Yellow Fever vaccination card at the medical checkpoint, you will be required to get vaccinated at a medical facility located within the airport. The cost of this is about USD 35 and non-refundable.

Medical and Covid 19 information

COVID-19

All delegates arriving through any port of entry in Ghana shall no longer be required to show proof of either COVID-19 vaccination or a pre-departure COVID-19 test.

Only delegates with flu-like symptoms will be required to take a COVID-19 antigen test at their own cost upon arrival.

Those who turn positive for antigen tests will be required to take a further COVID-19 PCR test at their own cost. Those with severe symptoms shall then be allowed to isolate as per the prevailing isolation requirements for mild, moderate, and severe disease.

The conference venue is within proximity of major hospitals and medical attention will be provided should there be a medical emergency case.

Participants are advised to make provisions for their own travel and health insurance during their stay in Accra.

Cedi (GH₵). $1 is equivalent to approx. GH₵ 14.43.

The most spoken language is English. Additionally, there are over 50 indigenous languages used, of which Akan is the most widely spoken.

Ghana uses two plug types, D and G, 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Safety in Ghana

Ghana is a relatively safe destination for visitors, and the government has made a great effort to promote the country as a tourist destination. However, it is important to always be vigilant for pickpockets and keep your valuables out of plain sight.

Local Transport

Hotel taxi services; or

Regulated taxi services such as Uber, BOLT, YANGO, and Catch Taxi whose mobile phone applications are easily downloadable.

All above APP-enabled transport providers can be paid in local currency or dollars. 

Public transport is available; however, we advise checking with the hotel concierge desk for details.

We recommend that participants avoid using motorcycle taxis as these are generally not safe, and unregistered taxis.
